Later, Alfred used the same process on a chisel. He uses a set of marks on the table to align the chisel in the jig and set the projection to achieve the desired bevel angle.
The jig aligns to the front of the table, the wood block sets the chisel perpendicular to the jig and the marks in the table are for setting different bevel angles.
