Alfred demonstrated a much better method using a jig. Two bolts are placed in the beam at A and B. The pencil goes in the beam at C. The distance from A to C will be half the length of the Oval. The distance from B to C will be half the width.Return to

Alfred also demonstrated a method for laying out an eliptical arch. Nails are partially driven into the template at the peak and both ends of the arch. The nails define the angle of the layout boards. Return to
