The UP Big Boy locomotive moves to it's new home.
Big Boy is the nickname of Union Pacific's largest steam locomotive. It was built to carry heavy materials and troops during World War II. On Saturday, March 12th, it was moved to a new location for display.
The building in the distance is Union Pacific's new headquarters.
Video - The 1.8 mile move down 10th street took most of the day. Eighty-three year old, former U.P. President John Kenefick was quoted in the local paper, "You don't whiz around with this thing in the streets."

The move took place in the oldest part of town where most utilities are overhead. Omaha Public Power District and Cox Communications were on hand to drop lines or move them out of the way.
Union Pacific hired David Scribner's hauling company to move the 1.2 million pound locomotive. Scribner's also moves houses.
Video - It was cold and windy but that didn't keep the crowd away.

There were several professional film crews in the crowd. This is a local news photographer. An English film crew was making a documentary for The Discovery Channel.
